I'm not really sure why you would give someone string (or is that just me?), but this would also work great if you create a garland for someone and wrap is around it. Fun for a theme-snailmail! Tutorial by Little White Whale.

  2. I can tell you for what I use string. If I crafted a really nice card, I normally cut a slightly smaller piece of white printer paper (folded in half as well, like the card), write my text on that one, put it in the real card and attach it by winding a bit of string around the folds. I let the ends hang loose and very often I attach a charm to the ends. Or a little bead... So the recipient can untie the string, take out the letter and re-use the card. Just a little tip from Scotland...
